Stop The Madness Of Processed Foods

Processed Foods are killing us slowly. Making us sick with a lot of different illnesses. There are so many things out there that are slowly killing us. I am going back to the old days when you made things from scratch.

processed foods

You don’t need all the chemicals, seed oils, and a long list of colors put into your foods. When my kids were growing up all of our food was made from scratch, they never ate a cookie or cake from a box, never ate a salad from the deli. Never ate all the processed food. And they grew up strong and healthy.

HOME REMEDIES AND REAL FOODS ARE BETTER THAN PROCESSED FOODS

I also did not take them to the doctor often. There are enough home remedies that most of their illnesses are taken care of without the need of a doctor.

We would sometimes get a half cow or pig from the local farmer. You just need to make sure they are not fed a bunch of crap or given a lot of meds. Now, you can also find farms that are totally growing beef and pork the old-fashioned way without all the chemicals and medications. They allow their stock to live off the land the good Lord provides. They call that Nutrient Dense Beef and it is so much better for you than the processed beef in the stores and they deliver to your door.

I absolutely loved getting up at 5 am and going out and helping Uncle Paul milk the cows and get fresh milk from one of them for breakfast. We never got sick from drinking fresh milk. I never sat around playing games, I either helped Uncle Paul work the fields and milk and feed the cows or helped my Daddy work on cars or build things.

PROCESSED FOODS ARE NOT AS GOOD AS REAL FOODS

Most of the food people eat now is processed. Not just take out that you can leave out for 2 years and it doesn’t spoil or age. But most of the different Restaurants serve processed foods. You will very seldom find salads made from fresh vegetables. They use the shredded lettuce that has been treated with chemicals to keep them fresh. Meats are always frozen never fresh. Soups come from a plastic container and are usually frozen.

I like to go to place that use the freshest vegetables and make their food from scratch. I worked for about 20 years in food service, at restaurants, and working at old folks homes. My patients absolutely loved it when I worked because they knew they were getting real food not processed foods. Scalloped potatoes and Ham were their favorite with lots of block cheese. I would fix it for them at least 2 times a month.

I had a lot of my patients and patrons of the restaurants I worked in would request me personally to make their food for them because they knew I used the freshest vegetables and that I would put all my love into it.

NON-PROCESSED FOODS ARE THE ONES I LOVE

Don’t get me wrong, I have eaten my share of processed but I truly love a macaroni or potato salad made the old-fashioned way. There will be no added oils.

Have you ever made your own butter or gotten butter from a store that has 2 ingredients? I have and they taste so much better, I am not talking margarine because that is loaded with stuff we do not need. Mayonnaise made from scratch is really good compared to store-bought factory-made Mayo. IF your not able to make them yourself go to one of the Amish stores that make it all. Freshly canned vegetables and fruits, without all the added sugars and seed oils. Oh lordy they are heavenly, We actually moved into a couple of different houses that had canned corn relish, green beans, tomatoes, and fruits in the cellar and boy oh boy were they good. They last a lot longer than store canned vegetables and you can add whatever you want to them.

For frying purposes, people used to use bacon grease, lard or butter. I prefer my food cooked in bacon grease or butter. I am getting away from seed oils and shortening and am going to start back using lard.

IN CONCLUSION

Let’s all try to go back to what our ancestors did, or for some of us what our grandparents or parents did. I learned from my grandmother how to cook and can foods
