Mental Illness Day to Day

mental illness

MENTAL ILLNESS: If you are suffering from any type of depression, anxiety, or PTSD, you really never know how your day is going to go. You may wake up feeling fabulous. Then during the day, you hear a song or a noise that will put you into depression. Or you may wake up feeling horrible and a song or noise will either make it worse or better.

The only way to deal with your depression and PTSD is to get counseling. Do what your counselor tells you to do, even if you think it’s stupid.

DISTRACT YOUR THOUGHTS

You will need to find something to distract your mind from what makes you feel bad. For me, it is usually my grandkids. If I cannot get to them, it is playing games on the computer. I concentrate on my game not what is bringing me down.

There are so many things and people out there to help you deal with your mental illness. The biggest thing you need to do is to realize you have a problem and get help.

MENTAL ILLNESS MEDICATIONS

The medications out there for mental illness can be helpful but do not just depend on them to make you better. There is so much you need to do to get better. And believe me, your counselor or psychiatrist can do a lot to help you deal with everything.

A LITTLE OF MY STORY

I learned a lot about how to deal with my PTSD when I was in the psych ward. Was able to learn how to deal with a lot of my emotions from my ex of 40 years leaving me and deciding to file for divorce.. I had my breakdown but boy did I bounce back.

I was terrified of what was going to happen to me. Being alone was new to me. But Thank You Jesus and my friends, family, and doctors. I am so very happy now, happier than I have ever been, and my anxiety attacks are very far apart. My depression is so much easier to keep at bay. Yeah, I still have my days but they are few and far between.

So I recommend that if you are struggling with any form of mental illness, you open yourself up to getting some help. And listen to what they suggest you do. I was huge on saying ” I know that won’t help” or “I can’t do that”. But once I got out of my own way things began to fall into place. I began to feel better. And you can too.

Don’t be the one who says “I tried that it didn’t work.” If you follow instructions and follow them well you can be healthy. I think next to my grand babies the best thing I did was roll playing with one of the patients.

Poor kid I let him have it with both barrels. But it was so freeing for me.
