DRIVING SEMI

Semi Drivers do not have it made like a lot of people think. My boyfriend is a driver. We go months without seeing each other. Money only comes if he is driving and when his truck breaks down pay is short. I cannot always go with him, so he is alone a lot. And he really doesn’t like that. Because of the weather in the winter he wont let me ride with him. We both hate that… Find out a few things here about the life of a driver.

DRIVERS GET PAID BY THE MILE: A few surveys have indicated that drivers, mainly over-the-road haulers, will quit, not because they are getting paid less than what they merit, but because it’s not clear how much money they will get weekly or monthly. Without realizing the amount they will bring home, it’s hard to budget. This is particularly valid for drivers who are having problems with delivering because of trouble with the truck. Also adding to their problems are regions with poor driving conditions, as a result of climate, and those whose clients have changed loading and emptying times.

SEMI DRIVER: Being a semi driver is hard work and so distressing. People think it is such an easy job, no cares in the world, and money to burn. Couldn’t be farther from the truth. They don’t all make a lot of money driving a semi, and most earn about the same as other people in a nine to five job. My boyfriend is a semi driver, and some of my friends and family drive too.

STRESS AND DRIVERS: As with any job, some stresses can make it hard. With drivers, I think there are so many more things that stress them out and make their job just that much harder.

Truckers and the Coronavirus: It is just a bunch of crazy risks for our primary haulers. These drivers are at risk daily, just doing their regular daily routines. But you add in the coronavirus, and it is life-changing. How may you ask? Well, not only are they hauling precious cargo to every state, but some of these states are in total lockdown.
